Nice one mate!;) :D and cheers fer updating us It's nice to hear a happy endin for a change!! keep up the good work;)

Oh! Just wondered if you found any other parts from other vehicles that fit the hippo? i'm sure all the other 1.8 owners would be glad to know of any compatible bits like that;)

Well I have only saved Rover 220 bits (as thats what I was breaking / replacing the freelander with.)

The Magnecor leads fit perfectly from a T series engine and the Rotor arm and distrbutor cover are exactly the same as the T series.

My CD changer from the Rover is the same and fitted under the seat as the frames are identical (freelander are taller).

The standard air cleaner element is identical to that from a Nasp R220.

Tbh I'm not surprised that many parts are similar - they were designed using parts from the Rover cars bin.

This is what the car looked like when I returned to work in September. More pics to follow when weather improves.

the pg1 box is the same - in fact the 220 engine will fit - I still reckon a 220Turbo powerd Hippoo wud be some mean machine!

Only problem being the O/S diff internal spline is a larger diameter to accommodate the IRD Splined shaft. - simply solved by replacing the 220 diff with a freelander one.

Finally got the camera out and took some pics. Vehicle could do with a wash tho!!

Has to be the best value for money FL going. Im after the sills and nudge bar in black, dealers dont stock them anymore cause of safety laws.
