Evening Folks, I'm newish here, although was regular when I had a proper Landrover. However, I currently have a Freelander 1 Td4, with 115000 on the clock all original transmission, it is on an 02 plate hence I am expecting death soon. I need it to last another 6 months then it can do one.
I need a bit of help with the following if some one has done something like this before.
The rear window regulator is broken. Fortunately for me it has broken in such a way that the glass is jammed in such a position that I can still open and close the door carefully without having to move the glass up or down. Its solid, it isn't going anywhere.
As you can probably guess, the rear wash wipe wont work, neither will the heated rear screen.
I cant / wont re-calibrate as i refuse to replace the regulator, don't want to spend any more on this truck, and neither have the time or inclination to do it, although probably could if CBA hadn't creeped in. I'm from an engineering background so am quite capable.
So without recalibration, is there any way of kidding the ECU or what ever controls that section that the window is closed and hence get it to allow operation again? i.e. is there a link I can out on a circuit board somewhere to bodge it?
OR
Is it possible to run a cable from the switches to put 12v on to the switch wire of the relays to force them on directly from the switches? Where are the relays?
If I can get this working, I can trade it in to the local Afur, with all things working!!
any sensible advice gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't it be easier just to replace the regulator? They don't appear that expensive and then you could trade it on to Afur with all things working.

nope, im electrical, hence the tone of my querey, i like my fingers in one piece, and if i get to work mechanically, unless its big, obvious and easy to get at ill pay someone :)

im mechanical and dont do red to red & black to black  but is it the regulator or the cable?
cable easy to do even 4 a sparks ;)

I needed to replace my tailgate on my rally car as it came with just a fibreglass outer shell and as it was parked on the drive needed to be more secure. I picked up a shell and associated bits and Bob's. Anyway, as the other half was bored she decided to have a go.putting it all together. She's no real experience with motors other than topping up fluids and replacing windscreen wipers. She had help in as far I took the tailgate card off my other Freelander so she could see where it all went. Took her an hour. I was really chuffed. So I guess it really isn't that hard to do. Remember, the tailgate was completely disassembled when she started it. So there's really no excuse not to do it if it's just a regulator.
If you still would rather not bothr, I'm sure there could be a member close enough to you who would fit it for a few beer tokens.

Hmm, I may take the card off and have a look this weekend then...
