Yeah I thought it might be that too, they were bad for it weren't they? No solution for it either is there? Not sure about the needle il have a look,Fuel evaporation? or insufficient fuel in the float chamber maybe, does the float chamber needle have any adjustment?
Are the carb float chambers filling with fuel and staying full, is the fuel pump functioning ok? That would have been fitted with the electric type pump at the rear of the vehicle, I had one fail on my '77 RRC whilst I owned it, it was working some of the time but would stop with a spurious fault.Yeah I thought it might be that too, they were bad for it weren't they? It has a new fuel pump in it if it was that would it not just fire back up once it stalled? the pump is still working as it's situated right beside the passenger seat and I can see/ hear it and fuel is still returning to the tank. it runns perfect for about 15/20 minutes and that's it, after that be aswell pushing itAre the carb float chambers filling with fuel and staying full, is the fuel pump functioning ok? Do an output check of the fuel pump at the carbs.
And I had that RR for 11 years and never suffered fuel evaporation problems with the CD Strombergs, and believe me it was driven in some hot places.
Have you checked the float bowls for water/dirt, ther may be crud in there that is obstructing the main jets, a bit of a long shot but worth a look.It has a new fuel pump in it if it was that would it not just fire back up once it stalled? the pump is still working as it's situated right beside the passenger seat and I can see/ hear it and fuel is still returning to the tank. it runns perfect for about 15/20 minutes and that's it, after that be aswell pushing it
Yeah carbs have been off and cleaned it's electronic ignition new coil leads plugs cap rotor arm and pickup, fairly confident it's fueling as plugs are dry if it was a spark issue the plugs would be wet?Have you checked the float bowls for water/dirt, ther may be crud in there that is obstructing the main jets, a bit of a long shot but worth a look.
When you are confident that the fuel system is ok, from the tank through to the carbs then you may need to look elsewhere, check out your electrics, is it electronic ignition or points and coil? Sometimes a coil can have a temperature related internal insulation breakdown, it may also be a failing condensor. Check out all the wiring connections concerned with the ignition circuitry.
They are a pretty basic old lump and it should not be too difficult to sort.
