I've got a disco td5 seris 2, there is a problem with the plastic wheel arch trims; they have discoloured badly and gone rough, they used to be black now they are grey! have tried putting back to black on them someone suggested boot polish, but nothing works, has anyone else had this problem if so how did you rectify it please?...it appears no one sells after sales replacements except original from Landrover which I suspect will be very exspensive!!!!!!

Two options to ya

One - Buy new ones.. LR £260 - Bay £139 or have alook at the bay and just replace the ones you need to...

Other option is remove current ones, sand down, prime and paint

ooo mine was like that too i bought some **** off ebay plasticare trim dye that worked they all black again now but wear thick gloves i used medical gloves and ended up with black fingers:eek:

I've got the same problem so I tried rubbing them with Tung (nut) oil by Liberon. It is really used to treat wood and is for use indoors and out. It is this type of oil that is used to treat things like wooden salad bowls when they have dried out through washing and on wooden kitchen work tops.

I have found that it seems to keep them black for a few months and then I rub them again - is also great on the bumpers! Parts of my wheel arches are very rough and it would be better if I sanded them first. as the smooth parts do blacken better.

It seems to soak in, so perhaps if I do it often enough they will stay black for longer. I got my oil from Axminster Tools but perhaps you or your friends might have some in the workshop left over from a kitchen job!!!

I use meguiars gold class trim detailer lasts up to 2/3 months
Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer 296ml on eBay (end time 01-Oct-10 17:50:05 BST)
Paid £6.50 from local m/factors

I,m curious as to what has actually happened on these mouldings ?.

Mine are the same, and its seems as if the rough/grey areas have been missed with whatever treatment has been put on them.

My bloody thing never stays clean for more than a day anyway.
