Hello all just need some advice on my 300tdi disco conversion in the 90.

When i come to start it in the morning it takes 3-4 turns before it cracks up.

Once its turned over and running it will work for the rest of the day perfect never missing a beat.

When i go to sleep again at night and start her in the morning i have the same problem.

my friend is saying heater plugs but other say these dont ever go.

Any help will be greatfully recieved

Check the tightness of the connections on the fuel return lines. Had this on a 200tdi. Air can leak in when resting if they are not nipped up. Otherwise, start by checking there's voltage at the glow plugs.

I'd check the spill pipes (cloth covered pipes between injectors) they crack and let air in, exactly same as fuel returns above .. :) Buy by the metre from local Motor Factors, don't spend a fortune on 'sets' .. ;)

Have the heater plugs been wired up to the doner disco heater plug relay or are they still wired up to hold the key against the spring for 10 sec before cranking the engine?
Are the heater plugs actually wired up at all?

Shouldnt need heater plugs yet.
As its a retrofit its almost certainly air getting in the feed fuel line, rubber pipes are ****e nylon as per oe is the way to go.
Any motor factors as its used as hgv air brake pipe
