After my battery went flat and it was jump started by the AA and a new battery was put in, I have been having problems with the dashboard. My car starts fine and after a few minutes of driving there is a loud beep and the dashboard goes off. Everything for a few minutes and then it all comes back on. Then it goes through a whole system check and tells me all the doors, tailgate and bonnet is open when I am driving along and then it tells me there is an engine management fault and it goes off again. The lights stay on the car keeps driving fine there is no loss of information when the dashboard comes back on but it keeps doing it every so often whilst I am driving. It has been to the landrover garage who are telling me that they are still trying to find out what is wrong and they are mentioning control panels and instrument packs??? I wondered if anyone has come across the same problem? If you have is there an easy answer or is the only fix a lot of money and a lot of time spent without my car while it is in the landrover garage?

Firstly pop over and introduce ya self properly in the right forum :rules:

Then come back and tell us what year and model your freelander is. Then the answers will come!

call the AA and get them to come back and check it over and also check the earth onto the battery ,why was the battery low .this time of year.

Hi teddywood1

Thank you for your post.

The battery was the original battery and I think it had just come to the end of its life but I will ring the AA as I do believe they have a responsibility to sort out the problem I think they caused. I will also get them to check the earth.

Have it code read and any codes cleared. Then see how you go.
My dad has just been complaining of a judder on his, under load. No MIL. Took it to a garage he trusts and they could find nothing. I code read it, 4 codes in the transmission and 3 in the ABS. Cleared the codes and they have not yet returned. The judder has gone as the auto box is now changing down as it should. He changed his battery quite a while ago. It would seem that the FL2 is susceptible to issues arising through weak batteries.

Thank you steadaway. It has been to the landrover garage again and they say they have cleared all the codes and it's still doing it so it's going back again at the end of this week for them to have yet another look at it. I am getting a little fed up of paying the garage not to be sorting the problem out. I will let you know how I get on.
