Hello everyone, I am not sure if you can help, I have looked through all the threads but not found the answer. I have also bought the Service repair manual CD on RAVE and not found the answer. I bought an old Freelander commercial for my dogs, and at first the Tailgate Rear Window worked perfectly, but now it will not drop enough to open the door. I have re-calibrated, and the window works all the other ways it should, but not on just opening the door. I can force it down a bit more to get the door open, and then it closes as it should when I shut the door. The door handle makes the clicks when pressed but the window will just not come down enough to open the door. Any answers and help greatly appreciated, as with three big dogs, it is very difficult when getting them out of car, and then having to shut window with key and then lock car with fob whilst they are pulling me towards their walk in the woods!
I posted this on the wrong place on LZ, so hope I am in the right place now!

is it getting a signal to move down when you lift the door handle to open the door, ie, does the window even attempt to move?

Hi Chaser, sorry I haven't replied sooner, I assumed (wrongly) that posts went to my email address to notify me to respond!. Yes, it moves a little bit but not enough to open the door, if I move it with the flat of my hand enough to open the door, when I close the door, it acts correctly and closes properly.

Then I think the only way forward is to remove the door trim panel and observe the regulator from inside the car when someone operates the door handle. It sounds as though there is slack in the cable that pulls the window down, I guess there must be if you can move the window by hand, could be a sign of imminent regulator failure.

Might want to look at the seals and what not against the glass. There could be something causing it to bind up enough where it stops there.
Ive not had this problem with my freelander but Ive seen that with other electric windows.

Thank you Bofvonhoostinar. I have tried the route of inserting a piece of 0.7cm long plastic next to the tensioner, thereby giving more tension to the cable, which seems to work, the window does not come down as much as it should, but it allows me to open the door. I have looked at everything and cannot work out why this should happen in the first place, but at the moment the plastic is doing the trick. Haven't put the tailgate casing back on yet though, just in case!
