Nice clear video cheers
Still won't prime though it's a bugger
Pumping lever up and down loads no luck
Filled filter before fitting, am I missing something

It's probably not on the cam or broke.
My 200 will start and self bleeds after a filter change, just let it idle until the tickover smooths out then it's good to go. The fip has its own internal lift pump.

The tdi does need the lift pump to run properly, you will not get full power if it is not. As others have said it may be on the cam an so will not pump. you only have to turn the engine over a bit to get it off the cam then it should work and get fuel to an open connection on the filter housing.

hi guys
so whats going wrong on my 300tdi
managed to operate the lift pump, bled filter off.
closed bleed screw then turned ignition on and pumped some more
felt the resistance then done afew extra pumps of the lever as per haynes
and still wont start , any ideas
i was thinking on haynes it says about injector lines with air disconnect and turn over engine till fuel comes out
is this right as i cranked it for 30 seconds+ and no fuel came through.
man i had better luck when i had an old v8 petrol

Sounds like you still have air in the system.

Crack the filter bleed and see if fuel comes out when you turn the key and crank the engine. If it does, close the bleed on the filter. Now crack the pipes at the injectors, See if fuel comes out there when you crank the engine? if not then carry on crank it for 10 to 15 secs, give it a rest, crank it for 10 to 15 secs etc etc.

Cheers

so filter bled all okay so went to injector pipes done the crank 10-15 secs over and over with no luck
battery now flat so stuck it on charge overnight so see if it takes one.
on anther thought the lift pump you guys say is notorious on breaking is this still possiple
it is even though its got resistance on it and bled fuel out the filter.
i just dont want to go down the road of changing things not broken for a simple filter change

Stupid question time, have you checke the 12V connection on the solenoid? you have not knocked it by mistake have you?

Cheers
