Hi ladies and gents, I'm looking at buing a southdown pipe for my disco and wondered what other things do I need to do to make the car suitable to go in water? I have had a look already but couldn't really find much on it but if anyone has a link to a thread about it I am willing to read it and not just sit back and wait to be told ;)

Extended axle and timing brather, make sure you seal the snorkel and all the plumbing to make it all nice and water tight, bell housing drian plug and timing case plug. :)

Cheers JNEC, I forgot to say that I have a breather kit 6-1 for the disco already and I also have Navy issue silicon ready for the intake pipe.

Looks like you'll be good to go then.

Only other thing I would do would be to remove carpets and soundproofing. If you go through deep enough water it will get in and soundproofing acts as a big sponge and is nearly impossible to dry out. Ends up stinking a bit inside !

Surprisingly mine doesn't leak inside.
I just want to get it ready in case when greenlaning we come across a overflowing ford etc....

Therein lies a dead man. Landrovers are not invincible. Do not believe they will go anywhere. They won't. Your skill is more important than the cars ability.

I do know about fords as most of my family live around the new forest. I'm talking 2 feet and not risking stalling the engine, not over the bonnet stuff..... Sorry if I'm not making myself clear. I'm not going to risk anything stupid, I love myself far to much for that :D

trust me you will push your luck and go in deeper water , we,ve all been there and done it ;)

I was only planning on going greenlaning with you guys anyway (already paid up for chippy run) so I'll be meeting alot of you there and i'll be able to put myself across properly. I really would never put myself at risk.
