Hi all,

Can anyone recommend someone to do a thorough pre-purchase inspection for a 110 located in the South East? I know the AA and RAC offer these types of services, but as the 110 I'm looking at is an 1987 model, I was hoping to find a Land Rover expert/specialist to really check everything out.

I have searched pretty extensively, and reached out to a few individuals I know, but have yet to find anyone who can actually look at the engine, gearbox, knows what to look out for, etc. I'm currently in the States and looking to ship the vehicle over my way, so won't even be able to test drive before purchasing, hence my want for someone to take an extensive look. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Are you better off working with a garage or dealer to sort it out this end for you. For instance I’m certain various ex-military dealers will sell you one, sort it out and deal with your exporter.

The garage has experience exporting and selling overseas, I'm just wary about making sure everything on the vehicle is as it's been represented.

Anyone know if perhaps another Land Rover specialist might offer this kind of service?

If you live in the states I believe there are restriction importing, if there are any concerns over the validity. In fact they will crush your pride and joy before you even sniff the mould. By the sound of the description of age I would be very surprised this has not had a few adaption on the way.

I'm very familiar with the import rules, luckily. This one has an extensive history and the original engine, so it's all good in the eyes of US Customs.

I have seen that very dramatic video of US Customs causing an '07 110. A very sad sight.

Hardly worth looking at. It’ll be noisy, leak, smokey, rusty, have bits falling off, numerous earth faults, uncomfortable, over priced, slung together by a Birmingham oik, badly maintained and cost a small fortune to keep on the road.
On the other hand they may have washed it.

Best of British. ;)
