Bumpers on the pre-facelift are definitely less susceptible to damage, very true.Other than headlights, I prefer the pre facelift. Purely practical reasons, dogs don't scratch bumpers, nor do other motorists. Looks more rugged and the facelift headlights look like they are crying.
Put a pair of good quality spots on a pre facelift, job done.
Maybe you need to Google what a Montego dash looks like, clearly you haven't ever seen one.The dash also looks more modern, rather than something pinched from a 1980s Montego.
I had one back in the early 90s, but have had about 50 cars since then. It was a comparison to how old it looks, not that it was the same part.Maybe you need to Google what a Montego dash looks like, clearly you haven't ever seen one.
It has to be taken in the gist the original comment. For sure they are very different, but then so was the Metro dash of the same era... but the Montego finished in 95 and Freelander started in '97 originally built on a Montego mule.Maybe you need to Google what a Montego dash looks like, clearly you haven't ever seen one.
Dip beams on the facelift have twice the light output as the pre-facelift dips do, and spotlights don't fix that issue.
True, I agree but around here it is mostly main beam as no other bugger is about !
Not sure what planet are you on, but what you are describing is building cars 101.... EVERY car maker does the same thing. And always has. Nobody builds 100% bespoke parts for each model in the mass market. It has to be taken in the gist the original comment. It was a time of the "Rover Parts Bin". The engine in my Freelander was a diesel developed from the 1 found in Montego and bits and pieces came from those earlier cars. The D1, released while Montego was still being built, had Montego dash bits and (famously) Marina door handles developed in the 60's. The D2 released after F1 had a further development of the diesel found in my F1 and before that Montego.
By the time of the F1 facelift in 2004, the influence of those 80's cars was fading. Someone above (or on another thread) mentions the pre facelift looking more 'retro' - there's a reason for that. My pre facelift has a cassette radio stereo in the dash - very 80's retro.
Pointing out that you are talking rubbish is not childish. Or put it this way, if you didn't post up such dribble, you wouldn't get such replies from me. As you can see the images above, they couldn't look more different. So if you truly have been in a Montego, you either can't remember what they look like or don't know what a Freelander dash looks like. Apart from being 'car interiors' they look nothing alike. I can't even see any common switch gear being used.I had one back in the early 90s, but have had about 50 cars since then. It was a comparison to how old it looks, not that it was the same part.
These childish posts are why I ignored you, and nothing has changed, so I'll continue to ignore you.
Do you have figures to back that up? At most a H7 only puts out 50% more lumens, but the eye won't actually see an increase of 50%.Dip beams on the facelift have twice the light output as the pre-facelift dips do, and spotlights don't fix that issue.
tbh, they aren't hugely different. The facelift was pretty mild, not a full on rebody or redesign. Side on most would be hard pressed to tell the difference. And even face on you have to be a bit of a Land Rover nerd to know.I agree internally the face lift is better, double din capability alone.. but its externally I'm interested in opinion. Thanks all...

However the Dash looks nothing like a Montego and not even sure it shares any real parts either. What Montego dash bits did a D1 have?
Apart from both being car interiors.... I'm not seeing much that looks the same. Nor with this either...
