Seeking advice!
Noisy prop shaft bearing so have dropped the prop shaft and will replace the bearings.
What are peoples thoughts on replacing the VCU as the thing is all apart.
2002 TD4 with about 120k miles. VCU is passing the "tippex test" and the torque figure seems to be about the same as the others who have posted!
So is the VCU "lifed" and is a pre-cautionary change a good idea?

Cant hurt if you can afford but they all tighten on lock, as you already know.
 
my free (TD4 2003) is 131 000 km now and nnever changed VCU
I did the tippex test...nothing wrong
I did the test yesterday with the rear wheel: nothing wrong
Today i went for a 100km trip, and as i got home , i touched the VCU: It was quite cold
So i was thinking like you are , and wanted to change the VCU as "pre cautionary ", but why should I if everything is ok ?
I mean..I will change it but i think I have still time...
So just take care of the tyres...

Nota: a new VCU in LR france costs 800€

without checking a new vcu is around £400,if it aint broke... its an easy job to lower the prop shaft another time.I would think mine is original at 170k miles.
