Hey guys.

Fitting a powered amp into my Defender 90, 200tdi. Will I be ok with the earth/ground bolted to the bar around the inside of the cab next to the intrtia belt behind the passenger seat? I guess it's a torsion bar or inner roll cage bar or something?

Seems to he working fine. Guess we will see if it drains my battery to nothing by the morning! If not, all is good! XD

Why not back to battery as your so near it anyway?

Most professional audio installs run direct to the battery to minimise interference and voltage drops.

If the amp has a fused power lead you might want to fit another fuse as close to the battery as possible especially if the existing one is inside the cab. Just gives a bit of added protection if the supply cable is shorted prior the original fuse.

So are mine, I learnt the hard way during a radio weekend what happens when some 4 guage wire shorts across a lorry battery and there's no fuse. There was a lot of smoke and not a lot of insulation left on it.
