I think I have ruined my power steering unit as it now leeks:
1.) Firstly, I have been using the '90' to pull a self propelled flail grass cutting machine to cut about 15 acres of grass farm land. This set up has worked very well, but am I over straining the powered steering? I have to undertake sharp turns at the end of each row on full lock and as I get to the centre of each field I am almost going round in constant circles.
2.) Unfortunately, I also topped up the steering reservoir with approx. 1/4 pint of EP 80/90 instead of Power Steering Oil.
Any help or comments please!

Bluddy 'ell, if it's leaking gloopy EP90 it IS leaking! Where is it leaking from?

Er, it dun't sound good tho', they dun't like being on full lock for that long.

Now it has stopped raining here in Pembrokeshire I have had a chance to take a closer look. The steering oil is leaking from the pump and not the steering box. It runs out only on full lock and appears to come from the pipe connection - the one that is not a jubile clip? It is difficult to see exactly and might be coming out further up and running down the connection. Is there anyway these non jubilee clip connections can be tightened?

is it poss you might have over filled the steering box with oil, just a thought

i know of a good landy man in fishgaurd, also landy rover parts supplier a bit further down the road from him

i think you need to change the way you're cutting the field. go down one side and then up the middle then back down next to first cut then otherside of middle (nearest uncut side of field) - you'll not have to turn so sharp.

i'm on the look out for a flail mower for our field too - all flaming miles away or out of my price bracket

Thank's Betty, I will give that cutting method a try. The problem in going round the outside is that it becomes very tight once you get in to the middle of the field. The flail mower that I use was intended for a Quad/ATV Bike, but it goes very well behind the Land Rover if I use the low gear ratio.

no problem. i grew up on a farm so know a few easy methods. only had anchient tractors that had to be driven with care
