Hi all
Driving to work this morning I heard a loud metallic bang coming from under the P38. Thought I had driven over something until the engine management light came on, then problems with the auto gearbox and revs increased & decreased. When in neutral the revs went up to 1200rpm, ok in drive. However, after I parked, the engine kept stalling when engaging reverse.
I started the car 2 hours later, there was a rattling sound then engine stalled. The engine eventually ran with revs at 1200rpm - max 2000rpm (limp mode?) This was when I noticed that the steering was very heavy. Had a quick look, belt is ok and turning. I suspect the power steering pump is not working. No leaks and still has fluid in the reservoir.
I can't get the car in for diagnostic testing until the steering is fixed. Any ideas?
