I feel my chin itching. Either that or the new pump was faulty. The part the pulley bolts go in to is a fairly robust bit. The one on my new one is a hefty lump of steel, the old one was super hard plastic.

never seen one with plastic pulley boss ,must have been cheap pump ,in which case not surprising it broke ive just noticed britpart do a pattern one for £40.

The shaft on mine went adrift, the boss (thanks for the word) was sound. Can't see any markings on it that hint to the manufacturer though.

Right I got the car back after discussions that we had with Aylmer guys. Apparently somehow they don't know the Belt got stuck and that how the pulley was ripped from the base braking the triangular bit.
The guy said it might be the tensioner but it can see anything wrong with it.

Anyhow he didn't charge me anything ! but he said I might have to change the tensioner to be on the safe side !

I'd find a new garage firstly their is nothing and I mean nothing that can make the belt get stuck on anything  if the pulley sheared off. either they fitted a ****e part. or they fitted a good part so badly. They caused it to fook up. If the tensioner was so faulty that it could somehow cause the belt to throw itself off the pulley then they should have noticed that, when refitting the belt.

You've been bent over, shafted and charged for the privilege. Like I said. Find a decent garage. They sound like a bunch of ripoff cowboys.

Hey just to say I am a weekends tinkering ahead of you having removed and replaced Power Steering pump Last weekend, was fiddly and messy, unfortunately snapped adjuster bolt on reassembly ( B*gger) so gonna drill it out and replace with nut/ bolt in stead. So go carefully. Its a messy afternoon.

I wish I had the confidence to do it my self. but as I need the car on a daily basis I am worried that if something goes wrong I will be in trouble.

Saying that I am am doing filter changes and oil sump gasket this weekend !

Redhand I went there after recommendations of other Land Rover owners. They are specialists apparently.... even people from this forum have been there !
That is why I went.

they didnt charge you second time around ,which is all that matters we all make mistakes ,its not ripping customer off because of them that makes a decent firm
