Hi
I have a Ranger Rover Autobiography 4.4 diesel (auto) 2016. Over the past 6 months there has been a problem with the power steering. When stationary at traffic lights/ junction etc and the stop start kicks in an turns engine off, when starting up again ( pressing accelerator) the power steering
Just doesn’t work. The only way to get steering back is to stop the car and turn off the engine and the back on. This can be very tricky when at traffic lights and turning as often there is nowhere to stop!! It doesn’t happen all the time only now and again ( twice this week) Has been in to Hatfield’s and they supposedly fixed the issue. However still happening. Took back to Hatfield’s today for a different fault ( one headlamp will not turn off...been on since Sunday) and told the service department that the steering still faulty. I was told that this is not a fault and is a safety function of the auto stop start and I should just switch off the stop start function!
Has any heard of this? Has this problem happened to anybody. I feel like I’m being fobbed off
Any help appreciated thanks

To be honest me thinks they are telling you “porkys”

I don’t have stop/start.
As you have said it doesn’t always do it, how can it be a safety feature?
Yes turning off the stop/start function would make it all go away, but that’s why so many older RRs are cheap because they have so many little niggly things wrong that we’re not fixed when they were noticed.

I take it you still have Land Rover warranty? Get them to fix it.

Welcome:) and good luck.

They are telling you porkies because they do not now what is wrong or how to fix it which is par for the course.

well, how can it be a safety feature if they had it in before to fix it.

they were either lying then or lying now, which is it ?

Switch off the stop/start and see if you continue to get an issue. If yes then it's not connected and needs fixed. If no it is connected and needs fixed. Either way it needs fixed but at least you have a bit more to go on
Oh and get diagnostics on it, from someone independant
