Evening all,

My father in law has recently bought a 1980 series 3 light weight and is wanting to convert it to power steering.

He doesn't use forums so asked if I could get some help for him!

Basically he wants to know what gear people fit when converting to power steering and from what vehicle do you get the parts etc.?

He know's his stuff and is very handy with a set of spanners so any links to previous threads/pics that you folk think can help or general advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers, J.

I suggest manning up ;)

nothing wrong with the standard steering set up cos if not it involves a lot of butchering unless you buy a very expensive kit……..

I have just put a thread up detailing my conversion to power steering. Saying that mine was to help the missus out as the steering was pretty heavy, mostly due to a half siezed relay but it made a good excuse.

Ha Ha nah, i was fed up of having the wheel try and remove fingers off road and the lady refuse to drive it as it was too heavy. Plus im in for a shoulder reconstruction in january so need everything in my life to be as easy as possible for a while. But yeah there is a little butchering but i have made no changes to mine that would stop me re fitting the old steering back in if i ever wanted to there would just be the plate welded to the chassis.
