Hi all,

I have a Freelander TD4 ES 2003 which I have had for a week.
After about 10 miles, plus or minus half a mile, the power suddenly drops considerably, there is no coughing, spluttering or any noticeable complaining from the engine, just a sudden loss of power. Although the engine will rev its very sluggish and slow getting to any decent rpm. If its left parked up for a few hours or so its good to go as normal for another 9-10 miles then the problem reappears.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Any help or advice appreciated.

Regards

not a td4 person
but most ecu controlled vehicles use two temperature sensors on coolant, one for gauge and one for ecu.
Also air temperature measured by MAF sensor.

Both ecu coolant temperature sensor and maf can cause sort of issues you describe without bringing the mil light on dash.

A good test would be live data from a scanner as it is driven.

Hopefully someone else will have idea's but it's a starting point.
