I've only dabbled under the bonnet of my S5 and whilst I'm technically minded, over the normal principles of engines and drive trains I'm lost so I'm googling most the the acronyms, I didnt have a scooby do what a VCU was and your description helped when I searched for prop shaft images.

I often wonder what the grip is like on the haldex compared to analogue variable drive splitters like the VCU. If the Haldex only sends any power backward when the front wheels spin, instead of send more power back, then I'd guess that maybe you get better grip with a VCU?

Haldex gen 3 as fitted to Freelander 2 leaves a VCU in the stone age. Why are you guys talking about VCU when this chap is buying FL2 Gees!

I've enjoyed swopping **** with you Freelaner and Nodge, JM, MHM, Will, DD and others but frankly have had it with Freelanders and the FL forum.

FL2 system works well. Have driven it on road and oft road. Tested it as best I could and it's good. Betterer than the FL1 vcu set-up. 4x4 when you want it. Somebody mentioned the VCU and then it was pointed out that FL2 doesn't have one
, just got the old wheels in my head turning a bit . You leaving us mate ? Well can't blame you, I've thought about it more'n once!I would be very surprised if the older system was betterer than the new one
, LR don't go backwards generally . I'd like to have a go in a FL2, my missus really likes them.
