I have a Disco 1 1994 TDI 200, when I first got it the handbrake didn't really work (you had to pull it through the roof to make the transmission brake engage... and leave it in gear).

I took the brake to pieces to find it was full of grease. I cleaned it up, shut it up and it worked perfectly... except one problem (which occured before I fixed the brake too), when I engage the handbrake the car rolls back (or forward dependant on camber) approx 6 inches before stopping???

Is this worn prop shafts or are the props just sitting back on the cogs?

Lets not start bragging mate, its not all down to size.
Sometimes mine hardly moves other times it goes real slack
Truth is I'm not bothered so long as I can hold it long enough
