Hello, I have just this week got my first Discovery Series 2. I am loving the Disco but not that I have had it for a week I have noticed that there is a small leak from the steering pump. I have topped up the bottle to just under the max level. Now that a week has passed I have noticed the level is now 2-2.5mm lower then the max level.

I would like to know what you guys think could cause this slight leek and what would fix it. I have seen some power steering pumps on the net, I am wondering is it wise to just replace the whole pump and could this be done at home by myself?

Thanks for any help and advice,

You could try this, before you go to the expense of fixing/buying a new P/S.Pump.

Hi there, I to have just got my first disco 2 and about a week after I got it had a very similar problem, with mine the pump was fine but I had a small hole in the ACE line towards the rear drivers side wheel arch, problem was caused (I think) by ether movement or corrosion where the ali pipe line was held in place by a steel clip, have had the offending section chopped out and replaced with high pressure hydraulic hose allowing for future movement and prevention of corrosion, I can post photos of the patch if anyone is interested.

Check the steering box. Input and output seals are a very prone to leaking. Output seal more so. Thats the one on the bottom of the box with the arm attached to the splined shaft.
