In my experience, you may get away with it. If all seems well after the new hose is fitted, change the oil as soon as you can.

no noise at all. Also when recovery man put water in it was pouring out but he did start it and drive it 100m to get to a bit safer place and it seemed fine but obvs that was only 100m

I had a burst hose on mine on the motorway. It was early and I was still half asleep so the first thing I noticed was that I was having to give it more pedal to maintain speed. I eventually got to full throttle and my speed was gradually dropping off- I think I was down to about 50mph flat out. Then the red coolant light came on which prompted me to look at the gauge! I got recovered, new hose fitted and it ran perfectly for many years after. I've read that there is a fuel limiter function in the ECU in the event of high coolant temp and my experience would support that.
