LR90, 200tdi Diso engine but not sure what gearbox is in there, chap I bought it off said it was from the original vehicle (used to be a petrol) 1987 version!

When the clutch pedal is depressed it retuns about 1/4 back up then sticks, will come back eventually or if I put my foot under it. Started yesterday but only just noticeable with the return.
The bit is all the way down, to be honest I can't remember wether it was at the top or bottom where it bit....sounds weird but i really can't remember.
I've checked to make sure there isn't any carpet etc restricting the return.

I'm assuming the clutch is on its way out and will need replacing but thought i'd ask you guys in case I've missed the bleeding obvious!

Next issue will be working out what clutch replacement kit it will need

Or just buy a new slave cylinder and replace, cheap and relatively easy to swap, bleeding can go either way though.

I best get and search how to change slave cylinder and bleed the system then ;)

The defender i bought had been standing for a few months and had only been used perodocally over the past 5 years. The clutch pedal on it was exactly the same, seemed to operate ok bu the pedal only came up a 1/4 of the way then stuck. It wouls come all the way up if i pulled it manually. I screwed the clutch pedal cover off in the engine bay and had access to the pedal where it pivots at the master cylinder, sprayed with penetrating fluid and worked at it whislt getting my son to spray the joint and low and behold, it free'd up. Worth having a go at the pivot points of the pedal. There will only be 2 that are worth spraying.

Cheers Sam, will have a look at that 1st, always start with the cheapest easiest one ;)

All now sorted, I know a man who can and he has changed the slave....all now good....and £50 all in sounds like an ideal price to me :)
