So, while I was doing the plugs and leads earlier I happened to notice what appeared to be 2 breather hoses/tubes near to the brake reservoir.

They appear to come from behind the engine and up towards the reservoir but have a hooked end like a coat hanger. They're not clearly attached to anything (no clips to hold them in place) and, as such, it seems as though one of them has melted at the tip almost sealing it.

Anyone know what these are for? I've had a fumble around rave but can't find them at all.

They all have them, never looked to see where they go, but breather pipes for gearbox/ transfer box/axle are possibles.

Thanks Keith.

You wouldn't happen to know what they should be clipped to, do you?

They just stick up with no visible clips on the bulkhead on mine, they must be clipped lower down. I can go look on the scrapper if it helps. Bloody hot again 36C which is why I'm in the cool doing paperwork:rolleyes:

Nah, don't worry about it.

I *think* mine were somehow attached to the ignition leads. There is a clip (or was) attached to them but the reverse had a single large, round clip that looks as though it should be clipped to a hose.. but there aint nothin' there for it to clip on to!

A cable tie to something convenient then:)

Must be the car that's hot, weather never gets that hot in Edinburgh:rolleyes:

ppfffttt. It's supposed to be the hottest day of the year (or on record) here but yesterday was a lot warmer. It's not really the heat, it's more the humidity. In Spain I can handle the heat easily at 30+, same went we went to Cuba, but here, anything over 20 odd degrees is crippling.

I even had the portable aircon unit on yesterday evening to cool the place down and pull moisture out of the air. Slept well!

...but yeah, I mean the car :p

Yep wound up the portable aircon here today. Cool enough downstairs but a bit warm upstairs.

The one with the cap on is the gearbox breather the open one is the axle breather.

Nah, it's defo melted.

I would question the point of a breather with a cap on though.
