Every now and then over the last few weeks ive noticed a little damp patch in the drivers footwell near the foot rest, now immediately thought o rings! but its only ever done it when cold or at least cooling ie: overnight ie:not when theres any pressure in the system,which is when id expect a leak to show.
also it not loosing any water or at least not enough to notice
is there any drain plug or anything from the ac nearby?
dont ask me to taste it cos I spend quite a bit of time on a farm and lets just say some of it somtimes comes with me

If you look below the foot air vent feel around there as that where it starts from you may also see some discolouration
All in all its not too bad a job :D

Yes when cooling they could leak as heat swells and all that keep an eye on it and your water you won't lose a lot of water until its gets bad .
 
try clearing your A/C drains first. Slide under, hand up side of the bellhousing and you will feel the drain. One either side, squeeze them open and hopefully get an arm full of water and crap

it is the o rings cos the carpets getting wet and im now loosing coolant
anyone within an hour of leeds ever done it before and fancy earning a few quid?
id do it myself but Id prefer somone thats done it before
 
Look it up on you tube sit and watch if you not that confident not many tools are needed out of 1to 10 if give it a 6 only becuase its fiddly .
I used a dremil with the saw disk and didn't cut the heater blower pipe but I did strip it all out first eas switch panel radio and hevac I wanted to make sure what was behind before I started cutting a hole .
You don't need the special screw driver a 3/8 extention/s with the correct pozi bit on the end will do it .

Re possible o-rings ..... i did mine with my son its fiddley and awkward i didnt cut any of the pipes etc i took the whole dash board out then the heater out i fitted new o-rings and siliconed them in i refitted heater and left the job until next day, its been fine since im just hoping i dont have to do it again lol

No need to take the dash out you won't be doing it again as your selling all the crap bits

that said though its not as bad as I thought it would be I ended up cutting quite a big hole which allowed me to get my great big meat hooks to it from the front aswell as underneath
Anyway some advice to anyone thinking of doing this!
look up on youtube the walk through and get a real long posi screwdriver (makes the job so much easyer)
As a down side whilst I had the instrument cluster out I thought id check out my suspect blend motor(air direction control) any way turned out it was working! Stress the word WAS!! I struggled to get it back on and couldent get it lined up ended up snaping the drive spindel:doh:
so if anyones got a faulty one I could rob parts from or indeed a working one going cheep
also need diagnostic to determine why the handbook is on if anyones local ?
typical p38 one problem fixed another immediately develops

its telling you , you broke the blend motor :p
 
The handbook was on before but when I selected different air position it dident change anything so assumed the blend was faulty turns out the motor does move for the first few seconds after start up but once the handbook comes on it stops working
hence the need for diagnostics

Seems to be same problem I have mate
 
are the blend motors all the same?
theres loads on flebay for heaters ect but none for the air distrbution
obviously ill have to cut and join the wires

The motor is faulty. I had the same problem with the distribution motor, it moved a bit but then would stop and the book symbol came up. Replacement distribution motor works fine :)

Yes they're all the same and yes you'll have to cut the wires. I've done my o rings too and after that you'll find this job easy!!

If you remove the lower facia and take the bolts out of the jointer beam and those that screw into the heater box. You can make enough room to get the plugs out past the joint beam.
