So what's the real difference between the two Sealy models? I know one is 1000 peak amps n'tuther is 1600 peak amps, but what does this mean in English (or Americun for Thor)? And is 1000 amp big enough for my ruffty ruffty lifestyle of driving to work and back?

the 1000 amp one is plenty more than enough to start any model od car/4x4 on british roads many times.the 1600 one will start commercials as well,or it will last longer in normal use.the 1000 amp is ideal for the normal man using it to start his own vehicle.

gemsdad, if you fully charged it today, how long would it keep its charge sufficiently to start your LR? Are we talking weeks/months?

^^^ Thats not English though

^^^ That is English. Thanks:)

no probs.but what fanatic said is english also.it is a bit like engine power, the 1000 amp is say a 1600cc engine, the 1600 amp one is a 2000cc engine.both will do the job,but the 2 litre is just a bit stronger.;)

I keep my portable power pack in the toolshed with a small 12volt solar panel trickle charger on the shed roof connected to it.

I bought a clarke 4000, worked well for cold mornings with old machinery, Although after using it successfully for 3 years over the summer it started beeping, then the whole thing stank of burning plastic and chemicals and it melted from the inside out.

That's just the built in obsolescence and 36 month warranty timer doing it's job;)
