Just got back home to Surrey after having Ian (aka Porny) do his stuff on it this morning.
WOW!
What a fantastic fella - not only did he agree to look at my landy at 8 o'clock this morning, but he'd done a 1st rate job of removing the ERG, and CAt and downloading his stage 1 remap for the ECU - see here.
All I can say is how impressed I am with Ian, his skills and knowledge but moreso his patience.
For those of you familiar with my infamous 'wiper blade' thread - you get an idea of how clueless I am.
I did offer to 'sod off' while Ian did his stuff, but he was happy to let me watch, and managed to keep calm and answer all my questions clearly:
'What's this for Ian?'
'You turn it and the wheels turn in the same direction - it's called a steering wheel'
That kind of thing.
The Defender is now a completely different beast - very responsive, pulls away surprisingly quick, got up to 95 on the M40 on the way home (I'm sure there was more in it, but I bottled it).
In 5th doing 70, press the accelerator and it still pulls away further - excellent.
Thank you Ian - be seeing you in October for those other bits, just try and sort out the music - there was a worringly large amount of Elton John and Communards on his PC, and when he suggested that we take it for a test drive ....
