Hi Guys

Can anyone help me,

I think Im getting around 15-20 miles per gallon from my TD4 and at the moment I am still in the middle of working it out but, I put £20 in which was just over 14 litres, the red warning light is nearly on and I have done 44 miles. this roughly equates to 14.10 miles per gallon.

I thought I had a fuel leak on the Fuel Cooler, but that has either blocked up or has stopped leaking???

there is oil residue on the turbo pipes and these are going to be changed together with the Crankcase breather filter as per my last thread "Turbo constantly running"

What can I do to make the MPG's better??

Also, does remapping work. I have heard so many good things about it but believe it costs so much. Is it worth the money?

going to pull my Caravan to Paris in August and don't want to put all our spends in the fuel tank or have any mishaps.

can anyone help.

Have I told you all how much I like this site!!!!
:D:D:D

cheers

if its a manual you should be getting around 30mpg around town and 38-40ish on a steady run. auto should be around 25 around town and 35 on a run. my auto was only returning 20mpg when i got it but having changed the crankcase breather for the bmw one, changed the hoses, new air filter and blanked the egr vac pipe i'm now getting 27mpg :)

You need to check your fuel consumption properly by brimming the tank, driving for a set amount of miles (100-200 preferably) & then brimming the tank again.
Remapping will not help you if you have a fault which you'll definitely have if you're only getting 15mpg in fact it'll probably run worse. If it's low 20s then a full service including crankcase breather, clean or fit bypass egr, check of intercooler hoses, make sure brakes aren't sticking, check MAF, check turbo vacuum solenoid & variable vane mechanism, run high doses of injector cleaner through before trying to work out consumption again. Make sure your vcu isn't seized.
Almost forgot, check your tyre pressures.

Hi Keep your speed below 60mph change your fuel and air filters make sure all 4 tyres are the same make and size and your MAF could be US :)
