Fitted new poly bushes all round on my 1.8 5 door F1.

OK for a few weeks then squeaky at front.

Put 1/4 turn on the snubber nuts and all quiet for a few days then squeaking again.

Looking at them in detail they don't have a 'nose' like the rubber ones and seem to be squeaking against the wishbone disc at the front of the threaded section. The original ones have a centre tube that bolts tight. The new ones seem to have a tube that is shorter and rely on crushing the poly Bush.

Thinking of changing them back to rubber

Anyone else had this problem with poly??

Yes, poly bushes used as snubbers can squeak. I used dry silicone lube which worked for some months, before it needs to be applied again. Otherwise use rubber snubbers, which aren't very dissimilar in that application.

I have only poly bushed the diff front mount, ARB bushes and trailing links on mine. I was worried that doing them all would result in more noise transmission so only did those for logevity really.

Good idea. It was cheaper to get a kit and I didn't know they would sound like a mouse infestation over bumps!

I would add to your list of essentials the front wishbone bush as the rubber ones seem to break free about every 2 years.

I replaced the large wishbone bushes a few years ago with a couple that @Nodge68 had in his shed, but apart from those, and the ones I've mentioned above, all the others on the car are almost certainly 18 years old!
