Thank you everybody who provided invaluable advice which has allowed me (hopefully) to make a more informed decision!

Hoping to continue my Disco journey and be a active member on here posting updates and obviously inevitable issues as and when time allows.

Cheers

Does look nice,

I have seen that somewhere before, Did it have that bull bar purple ribbon it before you got it?
So, two questions......................
Do you have the locking wheel nut socket ? If you did make sure it fits and is not distorted and also did you get the EKA code?

Cheers

Looks tidy

I've just bought one and have misfire issues and now the cylinder head is off

Only only paid £800 for it though 18"s, cream leather, etc

Hi Neilly,

Yes I checked the locking nutt which fits snugly and the EKA code was in with the drivers documents! Surprising complete!

The purple wrap was already there, I did post a link of this one when I was up on Autotrader!

Only thing I missed off the checklist was to plug diognostic reader!!

Points I picked up were;

1- R/L Mudflap retaining spar has rusted and come away!
2- Only one working key!
3- Boot door window doesn't work
4- Dvr's mirror kaput
5- Damaged front bumper/spray missing
6- Some oily areas around the engine block but, otherwise a very clean bay!

It's obviously the more basic model so hopefully less to go wrong on me!

Cheers!

Haha yes I was a bit miffed that all but one are gone but, I've already placed a replacement set into my basket

Number 3??? What boot window, does not work how?

LOL,

OK, Be careful , if you are replacing, some people have modded the wiper with an older style one. But if you order one from Eurocarparts they will normally sell you the wrong one. Std one has a kink in the back of the blade.

Cheers

Looks good!

High up on my priority list would be to remove that purple tape from the bull bar, and also to straighten the front spot lights, angling them slightly down rather than up!

I'd also get the key sorted asap - when you say "only 1 working key" do you mean "Only 1 key" or did you get second one that is faulty - if so what was wrong with it?

Niiice... they always say clevva folk buy green. I thought bull bars were illegal now ? or is that somehow described as a bumper ?

Yes the Fogs are bugging me as well  going to give her a better look over today and form a plan of action :D

1 key missing buttons for Lock/Unlock, using seperate FOB - replacment on the way
1 key is just the metal part nothing else!

+1 on what PP said, If you have a read of here it explains about spare keys.

I think the purple strap is endearing, is it the previous owners idea of a recovery strap?
Not often you see a D2 with full bull bar. I like it, it is "old School".

Cheers

I do like the purple strap to be fair, not sure what it's purpose is just now but, just appeared to be just that on inspection?
Bull bar defiantly gives the old school appeal which is what I'm going to stay with, for now ;)

Rightio,..

Now to ruin your day............LOL...........Sorry.
If you do a search for "oil pump bolt", may be worth keeping in the back of your mind. See if any of the history shows it being done?
Has it been de-EGR'd? If not , then a good place to start is removing it. ( but keep it in a safe place).

Cheers

Ah ok - I had assumed it was purple electrical/gaffer tape!

I haven't seen any reference to Oil Pump Bolt or EGR'd in the records but, the service history does have gap between 2006 and 2014.... does have complete MOT history though!!!
How would I check otherwise?
Cheers :)

Hi,

Oil pump bolt, I would be surprised if you did find a record, it would only maybe appear as a point on an old service receipt / log, If then. I understand there was a recall for it, But have never seen this in an official recall notice from LR.

It is not a difficult or expensive job, has been discussed on here a few times in the last few weeks.

EGR, Easiest thing is to have a look and see if it is still there under the bonnet.

Cheers

Well done mate, best thing I've done for years, and should have done it a long time ago.
Just a tip on the oil pump bolt, make sure you can remove the crossmember bolts before you do anything else, like drain the oil. I managed 3 of the 8 bolts, the rest are fubar'd. I now have to get them out somehow to do the oil pump bolt :confused::confused:
Nice looking disco mate ;)
