Hi Guys,

Posted earlier in the week with my ' oil in the wiring loom' problem on my disco td5 es auto 03.
Have spent Saturday morning replacing the injector loom and also as a precaution for the future ran a new parallel loom (chaffing problems).
Have carefully identified correct wires and double checked everything with the test meter.
It hasn't made an ounce of difference .............. still running rough (lumpy tick over) with a slight clatter (tick over is noticeably tappy) and no power when driving ??? All as before !!
So the problem lies elsewhere ? (not the oily loom) ............ the initial problem started suddenly " out of the blue' whilst driving in normal conditions ........ loss of power and lumpy tick over.

So i need some help ......... if anyone has any suggestions, or lives in north kent with a Nano i would be very grateful to hear from you.
 
Well I could guess until the cows come home. Best thing is to get the ECU codes read and at least it will give you a good starting point.

The reason I suggested a dodgy injector is the fact that you mentioned a tapping when on idle.
 
More on this .......... Been out to the landy twice this evening and turned the ignition .......... can't here the pump in the tank ?
I'll check again in the mornin just in case ?
 
Had the same problem with my '02 model. Oil detected in the wiring loom. Replaced injector loom. Replaced engine loom. Replaced 2 suspect injectors. Fuel pump tested ok. Cost Au$3000 all up. No change. (Except to my mechanics bank account). I then changed the air flow meter. Except for an occasional split second loss of power at around 90kph, the problem has disappeared. checked more today ............... ecu dry and clean including the plug now. maf meter shows a circuit but with some resistance ? is this correct ?
Fuel pump fuse and relay ok but still can't here the pump operating on the first part of the ignition key.
Also asked it to self bleed and heard nothing from the pump at all ? should i be able too ?
still running rough and lacking power
 
What about a blocked fuel filter? also have you checked inside the ecu for oil, I removed the cover (the seal is a pain, remember to put a little silicon round the edges when replacing the cover) and found some oil inside electrical contact cleaner + time to dry = problem solved, for me anyway.:)

Could also be a bad injector pump:doh:
 
All sorted .................. fuel pump !!

It finally died properly on the driveway.

At least i've had the chance to learn some things from you guys on here and replace some parts that may well have given me trouble in the near future.
