Hi,

My passenger door has decided its time for it to plays up.....here goes....

When the door is closed and the engine is on the display on the message centre says that the door is open, the interior light is on and the suspension will not raise.

However when the engine is off, the display doesn't tell me its open and the car locks and alarms ok.

If the window is inbetween fully up and fully down with the engine running, the message goes away, interior light goes out and suspension is back in business....

Any Ideas??

THANKS!!!!

PS - I'm not very mechanical / electrical, so simple answers please :)

must be a loose connection on the microswitch, when the window moves it also is nudging the wire/connection allowing the signal to say the door is closed.

Many Thanks for you reply....
Stupid question, where would i find the microswitch? is it built into the door catch?

My passenger door had a similar problem during the cold spell in January. The window position made no difference but manually locking the door from inside before driving allowed it to think the door was closed. If I locked the driver door from inside, all the locks popped up including passenger so interior light came on and the door open message.
The problem disappeared 2 days after I squirted WD40 everywhere in every orrifice inside and out!!

Thanks Guys!!

I will have a look tomorrow armed with WD40 and some tools.

If the mircoswitch is faulty, are they easy to replace??

Not too bad, bit fiddly to get the latch out. The normal problem is that the switch "Sticks", but they have been known to fail. The switch is not available separately, you may have to get a second hand latch from a breakers.

Thanks guys!

I managed to get to the latch, get it out take it apart, get confused, put it back together and now it seems to work...........!

Hopefully it will stay working, if not at least i know how to change the latch and i can revisit my skin that got left inside the door!!!

Cheers!!
