Dear All.

I have recently bought a 2004 Freelander HSE 2.0D as i got fed up of being trapped when it snows!

I have a couple of issues.

1. the famous Clutch judder in 1st gear (garage takes it round the block and its fine!!) but after a while i feel like a kangaroo. Would i be right in saying that a new clutch and flywheel will fix this?

2. Fault Code 1470, been told something to do with the turbo, vac hoses are fine so any ideas?

I still have a month warranty left so i am keen to get some help otherwise they wont pay out if they do not have a definitive solution.

many thanks to you all

Phil

the famous Clutch judder in 1st gear (garage takes it round the block and its fine!!) but after a while i feel like a kangaroo.

mine did that the first week or so i had it
( td4 manual with 37k miles when bought )
i got used to giving it a few more revs and de-clutching quicker ..
it didn't 'judder' at all after getting used to it ..

except a month later .. when i let a driving-instructor friend drive it ..
( his car be a ford focus diesel )
we stopped at some lights on a slight incline ..
when he started off in 1st .. it jumped so bad i thought he'd selected 3rd gear by mistake :) .. but he was in 1st ..

~~~~~~~~
deleting the egr valve .. gave it a bit more torque at low revs ..
so was no need to add rpm like before
and installing a 'synergy2' gave it even more torque ..
even so .. the solution really was to de-clutch quicker ..
with a tad more rpm if the egr valve is still 'stock' .. and/or no tuning mods.
~~~~~~~~~~

if that don't solve it .. then i guess somethings wrong with yer clutch system

the previous owner of my freelander had a new heavy duty clutch fitted just before I bought it, but was told by the garage it didn't really need it (still fitted though) as it was just the clutch arm had seized ?
