I'm of the opinion why give them reason to pull you over.
once they have you by the side of the road the fine toothed comb can come out and everything checked.
I'd rather them have to look hard for a reason to stop me thanks.
Depending on where you live incorrect plates are a prime reason for stopping a vehicle.

Ive got to agree on that point. They can use the plates as a starting point.
Saddo that i am, i watch some of the police docs on TV and its not unusual to see them pull someone over for something trivial and next thing, the car has been seized, the driver is arrested or ends up in court etc.
Im of the belief that if i try my best to keep the thing road legal, then i,m hoping that should they ever have need to stop me, the officer will see that i,m not a "chancer" and maybe i'll get the benefit of the doubt rather than penalty points. I dont see the point in driving around with what appears to be a 50ft red flag above me with the words "stop me" on it if you get my meaning

There is no problem with "Age related plates". If the plates confirm to the legal requirement when the vehicle was first registered.
I have age related plates on my '40 - never been a problem, as it conforms to the legal specification at the time of purchase. If you wish to fit later style plates, that is an option at your discretion. Not a legal requirement.
