MY2000 Vogue. New to me, and just looking for advice on a couple of minor issues.

The view through the rear window has a few ripples in it, as if there is a fault in the glass. When I look closely, it seems that the inside of the window is coated with a clear plastic layer which has wrinkled and even bubbled in places. Is this how they were made (perhaps a sign of age) or might a previous owner added something that I can remove? Suggestions very welcome.

Hey there, are you sure it's not in between the outer and inner layers of glass? Are these laminated like the front screen??
On mine, a 99' I can feel the heater element. But not a plastic coating as such?

Sounds like some drug dealer put darkening film on it

It’s definitely on the inner surface (not laminated) and clear, not drug dealer black. I am tempted to peel it off, but I thought I would ask first. I’ll have a go at a small invisible bit first.

You can get clear security films to go on the windows to help stop peeps smashing your windows in, and they can be removed but the glue can be a right pita.

I had to use carb cleaner to get rid of the glue when I pulled the tint off my front windows - took seconds to rip the film off but ages to completely get the adhesive removed.

A security film would make a lot of sense, although it would be the first time I have seen it.

It’s fairly unobtrusive, but now I have seen it I can’t ignore it if you see what I mean. Will have a try with a sharp point and see how it goes. Thanks.

Hi..don't use a point..you will damage the heater element... Small hand held steamer...If you look on YouTube there are articles on tint removal.

Hehe, I meant a sharp point in a hidden corner just to start it lifting! My usual tool for these things is a hair dryer. I'll be careful
