I have one of the cheap chinese ones. They are not planar.

However it was £120. And chucks out some heat! Needs very little power (as itll work quite happily of a teeny 2000mah £s lipo battery for hours and hours)

Yes it arrived and it didnt work. However it was a piece of cake to make it work properly. And 1/5 the price of the equivalent eberspacher. Note they although they say 5000w in the adverts, they are actually 2000w (ish as i guess it depends exactly what you run them on). (ITS ALL LIES MAN!)

also note the plastic casing is brittle as its made of crap plastic, mine arrived damaged so i managed to negotiate £20 back off the seller (just placcy welded it)
 
They sound like a heap of ****. I wouldn't sleep in a vehicle with one, I've seen what Chinese copies of other tech stuff is like.

Me neither, wouldn't trust it not to go bang,bought a Chinese space heater and it more leaks than a collander,nearly bloody gassed me.Sent it back to warehouse in UK and had a fight to get a refund

You're probably right,just won't buy it if I'm aware now,stuffs so expensive now you think you'll save a few bob but usually end up buying the good one anyway,never could learn a lesson first time out

Webasto thermo top Z/C-D coolant heater, plan is to plumb it into the HVAC system and run feed & return to stand alone heat exchanger in the sleeping quarters.

Something like this

Will enable dual heating capabilities I think.
 
I nearly forgot to post in this fred again, I have been visiting marinas these last few days, both yesterday and today I met with 5 different people that have bought the cheap Planar copies and have them installed on their boats, one chap let me see the heater and it was reasonably quiet and chucked out a lot of heat, he's had it installed since September and said that for the price it can be chucked when it goes wrong and replaced with another, he's not wrong about his reasoning either, I've been hunting a fuel dosing pump for my Webasto and a brand new genuine pump is £238+VAT :eek::eek::eek: One guy said he went for the cheap heater after being quoted £1600 for a full webasto marine kit and another £450 to fit it, that's a £2k heater, this one was £170 DIY install and away you go.
