So my series 3 stoped running. Mayo everywhere!
Thought it was a blown head gasket, Opened head today to find piston 3 is only 50% there and the con rod has gone stright through th side of the cylinder wall.

Now... My question is...

Is this cylinder tube replaceable?
Because ive seen them on E-bay.
If it is ...
What is the process???

No wise cracks please. Im not in the mood.

The more info the betta. Cheers.

if it's done that much damage get another block or engine off egay.

Series71 has got an old scrapper series on his drive doing nowt :D

Had the same on my 110... ****ing thing was still running though! (Abeit, Missfiring and making one hell of a banging noise)

Your engine, i would say is a lost cause. You could probably get a liner, put in but for all that trouble (The engine is coming out wether you want to or not.. Block will need to be stripped, and sent to a machine shop.. IF it is possible to fit them) I would be looking at 200TDi's or another engine.

I feel for you mate.:(

not a **** take but
2 days lost wages lifting and stripping the engine down another day getting the liner out plus the layout for a new liner estimate total £250 so far then the trip to the engineers for 2 days while the cylinder is bored honed top resurfaced vacuume tested and new piston machined to suit £400 unless you know someone 1 days lost wages rebuilding the engine and refitting and new headgasket set roughly £200
just getting another engine off fleabay for £400 and spending 1 day swapping them and back on the road the next day with little or no hassle priceless

Anyone info on converting it to 200tdi?
is it fairly straight forward or do you have to cut/move the chasse/engine mounting points/propshaft etc?
thinking it might be more economical.

I got a 19j up for grabs if you want it cheap
Not the best starter in the world but runs fine once it's goin
Yours for £50 let me know and I will pull it out

Mmm...
Is it an easy swap-over? or is there pleanty of chopping, welding and smashing involved?
let me know.

19Js are now going for good money so don't be giving it away

on the other hand 2.25s can be had for much less than £50 if you keep you eyes peeled

200 conversions can be done in a weekend, its a serious contender, and I've never heard of a 200 putting a leg out of bed, thats a ****er that.
Theres loads of info here on the conversion, use the search, also use google theres a couple of firms supplying bits you need, allthough you can do it all yoursel if your handy, theres no welding to do.

I don't need the engine anymore as I'm doin a v8 conversion
Be happy to get it out the way for £50
The offer is there if needed the same offers open to all here

My original petrol sold on eblag for 150 quid, so thats cheap, diesels are in greater demand with the price of fuel.
Putting the 19j in place of a petrol isnt that hard, you just need s fuel filter, fuel return line to the tank, and a switch to control the heater plugs.
