Greetings all.
Been charging my battery on Disco as it seems to be loosing charge for some reason....But while doing this I noticed this pipe and wonder if one of you clever men can tell me what its for..I think its' a drain, but not sure for what.?
Its made of stiff plastic and is the lower one in my picture.It goes down to the front chassis leg on passenger side, picture is on the passenger side....another spare clip is in the middle of the disco bulkhead for it to be extended if need be....thank you.

I have followed it down and i could not see the end, goes along chassis rail and then could not see anymore...I am to fat to get fully under Disco!..I thought something had fallen off the end i saw under the bonnet.

My battery is no good...it does not hold a charge properly after a run it reads 12.7volts then after 15mins drops to 12.1volts...if I run the car it charges at 14.46 volts, then drops to 12.7volts ,then on to 12.1volts.

I am told a good battery should be 13.2volts.

It came with the car and is 10months old(Yuasa) but has spent about 3 months in the dealer not being used much and then some more time with me on lock down. I discovered it was flat reading 7.2 volts,so charged it up and for 7 days it read 12.5 volts, but then when started behaved as above. tomorrow it will be lower I suspect.

Any suggestions on best one to buy?...its a type 069 I need...thought about a Bosch.?

To check whether you have a parasitic drain, the simplest way would be to disconnect the batt, read the voltage then leave it and keep going back and taking readings. If it stops dropping as fast as you say it is, you know you do have a drain of some kind. Then you can have fun finding it, and I'll step back then as I isn't as good at eletrickery as sierra. BUT, if you do need a batt, on the recommendation of Sierra I too bought a Tayna. It is more powerful and cheaper than many others. Only slight problem is that the terminals are in the middles of the two shorter sides and the earth lead was a bit of a stretch to fit, but not too tricky and the batt is perfoming brilliantly.
 
Thank you both, mine is V8 so its the smaller one ,my leads would never fit that, good price for a big battery.
 
Hi +1 what sierrafery says I brought one of those last year great battery great price as the batteries listed 069 etc are for the disco 1 it's just the listing haven't been up dated fir disco 2 which needs a much larger cranking capacity the only thing I had to do get it fit was to cut the battery box at the bottom at thr angled parts yes terminals in middle but not really an issue fits great also starts on the button

Interesting, a D2 with a Thor V8 3974cc engine “needs a much larger cranking capacity” than a D1 with a V8 3974cc engine.

So have I missed something ?
 
My understanding from the manuals is the V8 needs a 72amp/hr battery and model 069 is the one.group 24 sealed for life it says and diesel model is 110amp/hr group 31 battery.

Yes, that's how it is, i didnt know your's a V8 when i recommended that strong battery

I would imagine that whichever one you need Tayna will make a good one that fits. Loads a peeps on here have them, and i don't recall any saying they regretted it.

You will see that a 072 is the similar size as 069 and has a slightly higher CCA
But with both batteries, some brands of battery vary in size, only slightly, but 1cm or so can make the battery difficult to fit
 
Thank you I will study the Tanya specs, I will wait a bit as any new battery will just sit on Disco like the old one and want to be able to use it.....thank you again for all the helpful comments.
