Any body got any experiences of getting tinted glass stuff off a otherwise respectable 300tdi.

Still after a left hand drive!Spotted this for sale 1998 300tdi (LHD) 126k km's, not a bad price, it's about 2hrs from here. I don't think I will be going to have a look unless somebody can convince me that orrid black stuff on the windows comes off easily-If it is stick on stuff, what are the chances that it's proper smoked glass????
Current owner hasn't a clue-bought it like that!

Thanks chaps

Jason

With tints one way of removing them is to use a hair drier to heat the "tint" and then peel off, this may leave a glue residue on the glass but this is removable with any solvent.

Cheers Stig:)

Is it a right ball ache to get off????

Problem being that once you have started there's no going back eh!

No its only the same as removing outside vinyl stickers, but for outside you can you use boiling water which also softens the "glue" and that comes off with the vinyl (have used this method loads of times removing the "striping" off police cars that are going for sale).

what, you nick police cars, take the stickers off and flog em, you need to be careful, you might get caught ;)

the bodyshop/garage that I used to manage had the contract to repair all accident damaged police cars in our area, that also included prepping them for sale at auction.

would that go for Trew's Landyzone stickers as well? put mine on squint and seems a bugger to get off:D

White scotchbrite pads help scrub the glue residue off
Be very careful when pulling it off around the defroster lines it can easily damage them

Tht's no a wurry fur me, huvnae got that technology on the back of the defender:D I suppose I could always pour sum thinners over the sticker;) :D
