Just found this, as I and others are having problems locating the relay on a freelander 98

in german i guess "relaismodul" i,m guessing is relay module

could some add a bit of info i.e is the relay in the fuse box or is the picture showing in front of the fuse box, this is starting to do my head in.

According to rave it is beneath the engine compartment fusebox. It has a black female connector, 4 wires, colours are R, WR, BY and NR.

Look up connector c060 for a pic, it's not that clear though.
 
well under my fusebox I have 3 relays - 2 yellow and one black

I undersatand that that one of the yellows is the glow plug relay - not sure about the other 2 ??

still not sorted my problem but will have a good look at the weekend (weather permitting)

The starter motor looks to be new - but suppose it could still be faulty !!??
 
black one is the glowplug relay middle one is the main relay and other is the starter relay.

Still say the most common starter circuit failures are ign. switch and starter solenoid, both are usually intermittent faults.

Dont doubt you at all but trying the cheap easy things first !!!

My hippo is having a very expensive month !! on my second replacement rear window regulator - replaced drop links - about to replace wishbones - 2 new tyres -

Assume solenoid is part of started and not replaceable separately ???

Any fixes for this ??

Both fixes are reasonable, I would remove the trim from around the steering column and examine the ignition switch connections for any sign of poor contact, burning etc. even if there is nothing evident leave the trim off for the time being and if you get the non start again you can fiddle about with the wiring and tap the switch to see if anything alters.
The starter solenoid internal contacts wear and burn due to age. These contacts can be replaced cheaply and repair kits are available on ebay.

do you have a link to an image of the c060 as i,ve googled and all i get is ford pictures
which of the 3 is the fuel pump relay?


inside my freelander 1.8, trying to find the relay

picture 2 : side veiw : fusebox taken out, what is the yellow box and what is the black, as this is all thats below the fuse box, help needed this is killing me, love to take it to a garage but live so bloody remote nearst is 40 minute drive, helps if car is working, all locals near by have no knowledge of electrics or of a freelander......aaarrrrrrrhhhh

:confused::confused::confused: i thought we were talking diesel? c060 is the starter relay connection on a Di. Do you have a petrol?
 
Post pics as an attachment, i'd need a wide screen tv for viewing pics this way!

The larger black unit is the relay module which contains four relays one of which is the fuel pump relay.
 
I know ;) Gets confusing though when people jump in on each others threads.

It would be easier if every opening post or title stated vehicle details. freelander 98 isn't enough.
