Hello. I purchased PIAA sports horns for my 2010 defender tdci. The wiring instructions mention removing the single wire plug connector from the original horns and then connecting the live to the top spade on the new horn and run an earth wire from the lower connector on the horn to ground. However the plug fitted to the original horn actually has two wires in it one purple and the second black does someone know how to wire these horns in please any information would be greatly appreciated.

On your original horn the purple will be the live and black is earth. You may/should have two horns, one behind each headlamp.

Horn wiring for the later tdci attached, live is purple/black. Yours should be similar----

Hi thanks for the information yes it does have 2 horns I bought 2 of the piaa ones as well. If I cut off the connector do I then connect the purple to live Upper and black to the Lower spades on the new horns is that correct.

I’ve got a 2005 TD5 SW and it only has one horn.
Does anybody know if the wiring is in place for a second horn? Our XS TD5 had twin horns.

Dunno about the TD5 but assuming its the same set up as a puma which can have one horn either left or right side or two, depending on spec and market. Which is your single, left or right (drivers) side? I reckon theres a good chance the wiring and plug is there for a second horn.

Hi wimblowdriver.
Regarding the piaa horns do I just cut the plug off the purple and black horn wires and connect them directly to the new horn spades.

The horn is on the driver side (right hand drive vehicle)
I assume with twin horns there‘s a high and low tone.
If l have one, does anybody know if it will be a high or low?
So l can order the correct one.

On mine the one on the passenger side is lower down than the drivers side, near to chassis and at the side of the headlamp. Should find a wire and plug in that vicinity if there is one. I think both horns have the same tone.
