The type of phone holder that is magnetic and secures to one of the hvac vents is brilliant. I've not tried one in the Freelander yet but have one in my work car.
The metal disc sticks to the back of your phone or phone cover and as the magnet in the holder is pretty strong the phone sits very securely.
This is the one I bought but there are others. https://amzn.to/3vhXmM9

Photo grabbed from Google, but same era as mine. Only cup holder is bottom right of the image on the door bin..... not so ideal for a phone. Was wondering is someone had designed a bracket that fitted the tray above the stereo/vents in the middle of the dash. Would be ideal when using a phone for Navigation such as Google Maps.

But alas, it seems there isn't really all that much out there for the FL1 :(
Brodit do one that is Designed For the FL1. It clips to the central air vents and then you screw your holder onto it.
I had my own company and ended up ONLY buying Brodit Pro-clips, each of which was designed for the vehicle to which it would be attached.
Spend your money once... BUY BRODIT!
