Hi All,

Happy new year. Does anyone know the code for the PG1 gear box fitted to the 1.8i freelander, the one situated on the bell housing.

I can't see mine, and before I take off the airbox I wondered if someone might know to save me the hassle?

Thanks,
Jevon

Hi, thanks for the info.

I want to know what ratios I have fitted to my box, basically I have a spare PG1 gearbox to play with and I wondered if I could change 5th gear or the final drive to give me better economy.

Do which box the freelander has according to this web page?

Rover PG1 gearbox - SELOC TechWiki

Thanks

I fitted a freelander 5th gear to a rover 220 gerabox. This gave me a reduction in cruising revs of 500RPM at 70MPH. From 36MPG on a motorway run I was getting 41MPG and this was on a 2.0 petrol with 150K on the clock.

You will have problems swapping the diffs as the input splines are not equal due to the IRD shaft.

If you PM me an email address I can email a list of PG1 ratios for all gearboxes made.

Regards,

Steve
