I've noticed recently that when I put petrol in the Landy it sometimes leaks back out. This seems to happen especially if it is a warm day. I've tried not filling it up so much but I'm still getting the same problem. Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be?

Is it blowing back out of the filler cap? If so, you need a new cap as they are supposed to seal around the edges of the lip. Some do have a breather in them.

Are you leaking from the breather pipe from the filler to the tank? It is not unknown for them to split close to the tank joint, so that as the fuel sloshes around you lose some.

Hope this helps.

if it is the metal cap with padlock type then the brass valve is two way and sticks

if it is the plastic type the valve part can be cleaned and I think buster did how to

Not seen or driven one but at one time there was a 2.25 litre petrol engine which (mid 80's?) got upgraded to 2.5 litres

it is a 2.5 petrol ex mod, plastic fuel cap and only happens when the weather is hot. will try cleaning cap to see if that helps

Just in case you were wondering why Johnnew posted in my thread about my Landy it's because he's my brother :5biamwithstupid:

Yes, it pours out of the filler cap and if you then open it (which I did thinking it would help) it literally gushes out. Broke my heart to see it.
