Hello I'm new to all this so your help and advice would be helpful . I have a 1969 series 11a which I brought as a non runner , I want this to be a hard working usable landy . The petrol engine is shot to bits so I want to put in a TDi 2.5 but I want it to stay as a historic vehicle how do I go about this with dvla ??? Thanks for your help Lollie :)

Fill out the sections on your V5 with the 'new' engine number, displacement and fuel type, post it to the address printed on the form and await a new V5 with amended details.

For a 'simple' engine swap (retaining the original chassis, running gear and suspension) that's all there is to it... When I had the taxation class on my 88 changed to 'historic' I got the engine number changed at the same time as I had replaced it, and also had them change the model form '109' to '88' as it was registered incorrectly back in 1972.

No problem.

For what it's worth it may also be worth a phone call to DVLA to check my information is still in date ;)

If you want to keep it classic...why not fit the 200 without the turbo and all its complications and pipe work inc being able to use the std exhaust sys....fit it as a DI...thats what I did...looks the part under the bonnet and still has loads of power and 35+mpg.

Nick.

I went from 2.25 petrol --> 200tdi --> 200di - the 200di works well, i like it, you don't need a turbo on a series for most things
