and id never have a v8 or a petrol ever again. cant run them on cheaper fuels. i had a v8 rangey classic once and took it down a green lane and booted it through a big puddle. it stopped instantly, i had to get work to come and rescue me as i went for a play on my dinner break. How embarrasin, i swapped it that day for a diesel

:D ok so it was a big puddle not very deep though, but i was so embarassed when work came round corner and i was sat in rangey and water wasnt hadnt even coverd bottom of the tyres. they said whats up? well....... i went through this puddle and it got a bit wet. it took me 2 hours to get running again.

Dont expect edge-of-the-seat performance :) Do expect water ingress, rusty boot floor, to change the timing belt ASAP, 26-30mpg and to have a vehicle that you will love for a long time, they grow on you:) Be warned :)

You could always avoid some of these issues by getting a TD5 (1999-2004) ;) Best to read as much as you can on this forum and look at a few Disco's, by which time you will have learnt the basic pro's and con's of the Discovery.
