if you take the viscous off & put in a solid bar what would happen
i know the fuel would go up but would the ird stand the extra work

no it would die very quickly! it would be like driving a defender in difflock all the time, it would destroy it

Basically the same as the VCU siezing and there are lots of threads on that here. If you didn't need it why would LR fit the VCU or a centre diff?

It's worse than that, due to the rear wheels being geared to turn slower than the front on the Freely.

Tell us Geordo, how did you get on with this inspirational project & frankly brilliant piece of design engineering?

Kinda makes you wonder why Landrover themselves didn't think of it eh.
You could be on to huge royalties with this one.
