Hi has anyone had restricted performance come up on the dash of a freelander 2 2014 before it goes into limp mode with no engine management light, the aa said the fault code is the egr valve but after blanking it off it still goes performance restricted any ideas thanks

I doubt you can just block off the egr....it'll see that as a fault. Early egr valves were fine but later ones are not so easy to get rid of.

I've had this a few times on mine. The EGR butterfly valve was sticking and the AA man ran a routine to un stick it...

This essentially opens and closes the valve 10 times and clears the fault - rocket science!!!

I went and got all my super secret tools from my work bag (this was when I still worked for Land Rover) turns out the code was just masked... I got some EGR cleaner from Halfrauds and did this twice with 500miles between that cans. Kept me going for 20k miles before the EGR cooler packed up and the dealer replaced both under extended warranty.

Happened again 40k miles later...

But this time..... turns out it was intercooler pipe leak although this time the fault code showed boost leakage this shortly clogged the EGR because the fuel mix was a little short of air it wasn't quite burning properly.

Suggest you check the intercooler pipes for small leaks (small leaks don't get picked up very quickly by the baro-sensors) and then use some EGR cleaner to spruce up your engine insides :)

Also EeEk is right - if you want to blank the EGR then you will need to re-calibrate the engine I used to do this all the time on prototypes - simple if you have the outrageously expensive tools!
