I've just fitted one of these big intercoolers, and boost box and Mike from Dynachip has been and worked his magic and I can state the disco flies!!! I can't recommend this chap enough :clap2:

I had Mike do the remap on mine which otherwise is standard. Its hard for you to explain I know but Id be interested to see what difference the intercooler and boost box make for the extra £500. Did he give you any idea what power its running at now?
 
i had mine remapped by mike, 12 months later, uprated intercooler, havent really noticed any difference with intercooler, but i don't drive it that often, then after a GT170 golf anything feels like a tractor!!!! lol

I deliberately fitted the intercooler first and on its own doesnt make much noticable difference, but with the boost box fitted and intercooler, and the turbo actuator arm shortened by approx 7mm, its running around 2.3 bar of boost,
which once on boost made for great acceleration, even with the standard map.
Then Mike arrived, checked the car was functioning as it should then set about the mapping,
As we have the large (2 1/2 times bigger) intercooler we went for a very aggressive map, with a little more fuel going in from 1300rpm increasing rappidly to a think he said a 15% fuel air ratio?
Then we went for test runs, the first run highlighted the limits of a non land rover air flow meter, even though it was OEM Siemens, it ran out of puff at 3500rpm, reading 650 air flow, causing a hiccup, options are the map can be turned down, (thats not going to happen,lol) or fit a box to trick the air flow meter into not seeing the 650 figure or fit the genuine landrover maf, which allows reading passed the 650, so Im awaiting arrival of one of those and will report back after fitting,
All i can say is the car is way nicer to drive with power available pretty much always , and gets on boost much earlier than just a standard map only car, due to the higher boost pressure I assume,
And no smoke at all, even when booting it,
Probably the best compliment I can say is it feels like the 3 litre BMW diesel twin turbo I used to have
 
interesting , so you are saying , we have to trick the ecu with a boost box to allow higher boost AND trick the maf to allow more air ? were does one find a MAF trick box , i`ll shortly go for a trash with the nanocom and see what my maf allows , good little write up dude
 
HI, i dont want to ruin your joy but i think you better know that with that kind of "brute" tuning you better fit a pre-turbo EGT gauge to be on the safe side, especially if you have a hard right foot, i've seen 3 out of 4 quite similar cases(including me), 2 cracked heads and 1 turbo failure after we drove them like mads in the mountins, then i fitted an EGT gauge and got scared, it went up to 900 few times 1000 uphill not once, the voltage clamps(so named "boost box) on MAP of MAF are the worst thing you can do to your engine, of course that it pulls like a train with such boost but the engine management is completely mixed up, that's why lately those who run serious business in this tuning area are using wide range MAP or MAF sensors with addapted fuel maps not voltage clamps... the air flow is normal to top up at such boost cos a serious suction is needed for that, you can try with this MAF which will fit and has wider range(though in the middle revs zone) BMW Mass Air Flow Meter Sensor 5WK9605 5WK9608 5WK96050Z 13621432356 | eBay

Already measuring EGT , and is still within safe limits, thats the reason for fitting the huge intercooler, as for the bmw air flow meter, its listed at Europarts as the same part number as the siemens land rover item, so wont be any better as far as i can see, but the land rover maf should be here in a few days so will see what difference that makes
 
there is a confusion around this part as the LR MHK100620 is direct fit with VDO 5WK9604/9697 see this LAND ROVER MHK 100620 Air Mass Sensor even though BMW 13621432356 is linked with both but the LR is not to the 5WK9605/9608 VDO 5WK9605 Air Mass Sensor , the 5WK9605(and it's cross interchanges) has different graphic of outputs

yeah i see what your saying, and did think about using the bmw one, but with discount the actual genuine land rover unit aint much more, and should defo work, but once someone fits the bmw part and proves it works, I'll be converted:)
